Every user faces with the breakdowns PC or
laptop from time to time. In most cases, the fault associated with
software failures. But sometimes, when significant voltage drops in the
network may break down the power supply. How to prevent it from damage and
repair on its own if necessary?
You will need
- Screwdriver;
- Soldering iron;
- Solder;
- Flux;
- Multimeter (voltmeter, ohmmeter).
To prevent disruption to the power supply
(e.g. Bose Soundlink power supply), you should use a surge protector. The
filter design protects connected devices from power surges, and some models let
you shut down the computer in safe mode even when full power is turned off.
It is not always the cause of
"silence" of the computer can be connected precisely with the power
supply. To make sure of serviceability of the power supply or in the event
of failure, disconnect the unit from the computer and put in its place a known
working unit from another computer (you can borrow it from friends or
relatives). If the new block of the device is working properly, the
problem can supply your device.
To repair the burned-out power supply (e.g.
Bose power cord), prepare a soldering iron, accessories to it, screwdriver,
multimeter. Gently loosen the screws and remove the cover.
Most often, the power supply fails in the
breakdown of the rectifier diode bridge, located in the high-voltage circuit. To
diagnose a malfunction, use a voltmeter or multimeter. Measure the voltage
on all the wires coming out of the unit. In the absence of a minimum
voltage, measure the resistance between any two terminals of the diode bridge. If
the resistance does not reach the value of 1 ohm, diode bridge needs to be
replaced. To do this, you need to purchase a rectifier bridge, designed
for 300V voltage and amperage 1A.
